on the Yucatan's northwest coast, on the Gulf of Mexico. It is about
90 km west of Mérida, the capital of the Yucatán and about
6 km north of a small fishing village named Celestún. |

to the east, north and south side of the site, and includes the land
on both sides of the lagoon. The park is a reserve for flamingos, ducks
and many other birds.
